Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to what new drivers ask us most.

Is Drivers World really free?
Yes. Every guide and article is free to read, with no account, paywall or subscription. We do not sell courses, tutoring, test bookings or any other paid service. The site is supported by advertising so the content can stay free.
Are you affiliated with the government or ServiceOntario?
No. Drivers World is an independent educational website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Government of Ontario, the Ministry of Transportation, DriveTest or ServiceOntario. Always confirm official requirements and fees on the relevant government website.
How long does it take to get a full G licence?
The graduated process takes a minimum of about 20 months: at least 12 months as a G1 (or 8 months with an approved driver-education course) before the G2 test, then a further 12 months as a G2 before the full G test. Many people take longer, and that's completely normal.
Can I use these guides if I'm not in Ontario?
Our licensing guides focus on Ontario's system specifically. However, our articles on insurance, maintenance, defensive driving and winter driving contain general information useful to drivers across Canada. Always check the rules for your own province or territory.
Is the information official or guaranteed to be current?
We work hard to keep our guides accurate, but rules, fees and procedures change. Our content is general educational information, not legal or professional advice. Please verify details with official sources before making decisions. See our disclaimer for more.
